About Therapy
Every therapy is different: it becomes what we make it. But every therapy begins with certain things in common.
First, there is a room and two people. Feelings, thoughts, wishes, fears, anxieties, memories and dreams all emerge, are explored and thought about within those four walls, and within the developing relationship between us.
Therapy is challenging, because the issues which people bring to it are hard to bear.
Those issues may include:
– relationship difficulties
– anxiety and panic attacks
– depression
– body issues
– bereavement and loss
– trauma
– life-changing events
– sexual problems
– lack of confidence
– general sense of unhappiness
Therapy may be short-term or long-term, once a week or more frequent, depending on what you bring to it and need from it. Each session lasts 50 minutes. Initially we will meet for two sessions to think together about what you may be looking for and agree a way forward.
My consulting room is near the centre of Ely, three-quarters of a mile from the railway station. It is easily accessible by car.
I have a sliding scale of fees, depending on the type of work we need to do and what you can afford. We will discuss this together.
