About Karen

I have been a therapist since 2008, working with adults and children in the NHS, in schools and family centres, in care homes and in private practice.

I believe that creative potential exists in all of us to wrestle with our human struggles and conflicts in order to live more richly and become more fully ourselves.

I work with words, but also – when people request them – with art materials, sandtray and music. I find these non-verbal forms of expression can sometimes help people explore their deepest feelings more freely.

I have an interest in mothers and babies who may be in emotional or communicative difficulty, or who are finding it hard to bond. I hold the UKCP’s Proficiency Marker for working with children and adolescents.

I am a supervisor for health and social care professionals, counsellors and arts therapists. I facilitate ‘reflective spaces’ in institutions: non-judgemental, boundaried opportunities for staff groups to collaborate by seeking creative solutions to challenging problems.

I am a senior member and training therapist at the British Jungian Analytic Association (British Psychotherapy Foundation). I am also a member of the Forum for Independent Psychotherapists (FIP). I am regulated by their codes of ethics and by those of the British Psychoanalytic Council, the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, and the Health and Care Professions Council.
